Making room for curiosity, connection, and a more authentic relationship with your sexuality.
Anne Mauro, LMFT, DHS, CSE, CST-S is a Certified Sex Therapist, Educator, Supervisor, Published Author, and International Speaker.
I believe conversations about sex, intimacy, relationships, and pleasure deserve the same care, attention, and clinical expertise we bring to other areas of our lives. Yet, for many people, sexuality remains difficult to discuss. Shame, cultural expectations, relationship experiences, and limited access to affirming sexual health education can make it challenging to understand our own needs and desires.
My work creates space for those conversations.
My Approach
My clinical approach is systemic, relational, culturally responsive, and grounded in curiosity. I understand sexuality as shaped not only by our individual experiences but also by family histories, relationships, culture, race, gender, identity, and systems of power.
I believe therapy should make room for questions, challenge assumptions, and expand possibilities rather than prescribe how someone's sexuality or relationships should look.
Beyond Private Practice
My work extends beyond the therapy room. As an AASECT Certified Sex Therapy Supervisor (CST-S) and AAMFT Clinical Supervisor and mentor, I support developing sexuality professionals in strengthening their clinical sexology skills, building ethical practices, and finding their voices within the field.
I also serve as an expert witness, bringing specialized knowledge of sexuality, relationships, and clinical practice to legal proceedings.
As a published author, academic educator, and national speaker, I contribute to scholarship, professional education, and conversations about sexuality, race, culture, power, and the decolonization of sex therapy. My teaching and presentations invite clinicians and educators to question established frameworks and consider whose experiences and knowledge have historically been centered in our field.
I am particularly passionate about mentoring the next generation of sexuality professionals and creating more inclusive, culturally responsive spaces within our profession.
Let's Make Room for Something Different
Whether you're seeking support for your sexuality or relationship, looking for clinical supervision, or you have an opportunity you would like to talk about, I bring experience, curiosity, and a commitment to thoughtful, affirming work.
I offer in-person services in Tacoma, Washington, and online therapy throughout Washington State and North Carolina.
You deserve a space where all parts of your story can be part of the conversation.
On a personal note, one of Anne's favorite things is riding her motorcycle, Stardust.
Of great importance...
I live and profit from the unceded lands of the Duwamish and Puyallup people. I acknowledge the direct correlation to this land theft and the continued genocide and sexual violence towards our Indigenous people, as is blatantly visible with our current local Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls (MMIWG) epidemic.
In memorandum of the assaulted, lost, and/or murdered loved ones and ancestors on our land and beyond, I strive to increase awareness around the harmful effects of colonization.
